Learning Activities

Description. Students will explore how AI, such as ChatGPT, is shaping the future of mathematics. They will engage in interactive tasks to understand AI’s role in solving complex math problems and how it can assist in mathematical research and education.

LA1: Contextualization (5 minutes)

The teacher introduces the purpose of the task. Also facilitates a class discussion on the potential future applications of AI in mathematics. Pose questions such as:

  • “How do you think AI will change the way we learn and solve math problems?”
  • “What are some potential benefits and drawbacks of relying on AI for math?”
  • “How can AI be used in mathematical research and discovery?”

LA2: Worksheet (30 minutes)

Students are divided into groups. Students are given the task of completing the worksheet.

Each group has a different aspect of AI’s role in the future of math to explore using ChatGPT.

Each group presents their findings.

LA3: Presentation and Discussion (10 minutes)

  • Discuss what happened during usage of AI
  • Discuss the benefits and potential challenges associated with AI in Math in the future.
