Learning Activities
Description. Students will learn how to use AI tools like ChatGPT to enhance their understanding and problem-solving skills in Physics through a series of real-world situations.
LA1: Contextualization (5 minutes)
The teacher introduces the purpose of the task.
Students are divided into groups, teacher assigns each group a real-world physics problem that requires critical thinking and the use of ChatGPT.
LA2: Worksheet (30 minutes)
Students are given the task of completing the worksheet.
Real-world physics problems to solve:
Car Safety: “You are designing a safety feature for cars that will help reduce injuries in a collision. Use ChatGPT to understand how seat belts and airbags use the principles of physics to protect passengers.”
Roller Coaster Design: “Imagine you are an engineer designing a new roller coaster. Use ChatGPT to calculate the potential energy at the top of a hill and the kinetic energy at the bottom, given the height and speed of the roller coaster.”
Energy Efficiency in Homes: “Your task is to improve the energy efficiency of a house. Use ChatGPT to explore how insulation, energy-efficient windows, and solar panels work and how they can reduce energy consumption.”
Each group uses ChatGPT to solve their assigned problem and prepare a short presentation explaining their solution process.
Each group presents their real-world physics problem, the solution they found with ChatGPT, and the steps they followed to solve it.
LA3: Presentation and Discussion (10 minutes)
Discuss what happened during usage of AI
Discuss the benefits and potential challenges associated with AI in Physics.
Emphasizing the importance of understanding the math concepts and using AI tools as a supplementary resource.
