In this scenario, participants are encouraged to think about the future impact of AI and their role in shaping that impact by learning what AI means for the environment.

Learning Activities

Description The students brainstorm to explore future possibilities of artificial intelligence (AI). They are encouraged to think creatively about how AI can solve societal challenges. They then discuss different professions of the future and the skills and knowledge required for these professions. Afterwards, a YouTube video can be watched (see worksheets). Finally, students are encouraged to reflect on what they have learned and a class discussion is held on the potential benefits and challenges of AI in the future.

LA1: Contextualization (5 min)

The teacher introduces the purpose of the task:

  • To introduce the topic of the lesson and its relevance to the future.
    Explain why it is important to think about the future impact of AI.

LA2: Worksheet (30 min)

  • The students work on the worksheet:
    • Worksheet contains tasks for brainstorming about future possibilities of AI.
    • Questions and tasks to explore how AI can solve social challenges.
    • Tasks to identify professions of the future and the skills and knowledge required for them.
  • Teacher support with questions and to stimulate discussion.

LA3: Video (45 min)

The video is watched:

  • Introduction of the video by the teacher, explanation of how it relates to the topic.
  • Students watch the YouTube video that provides relevant information about AI and its future impact on the environment.

LA5: Outlook (10 min)

Final discussion:

  • The teacher moderates a discussion about what was seen in the video.
  • Reflection on what has been learned and exchange of thoughts and opinions.
  • Discussion about the potential benefits and challenges of AI in the future.
